With the end of the LJC teaching term just around the corner on Friday 10th July, we wanted to give some advance warning of a change we will be making to the free membership we offer to LJC students, from the start of the autumn term in September.
From September 2026, we will be offering free half-membership only to those enrolled on courses at the London Jesuit Centre. This means access to the reading room and borrowing from the collections stored in the reading room at Mount Street, and does not include free requests for materials stored in our offsite locations.
To offset this change, we will be extending the length of membership for LJC students. Previously, LJC students could benefit from free membership only for the duration of the course they were currently enrolled on, and not beyond the end of the term that particular course took place within.
From September, LJC students will be able to keep their membership until the end of the LJC 2026-27 academic year in July, regardless of when they enrolled on their course. Anyone enrolled on courses during the 2026-27 teaching year can continue to use their free half-membership until July 2027 (exact date tbc), a significant extension on previous provisions.
For those that wish to request offsite store materials this will still be possible: however it will require a fee of £5 per item requested, on a pay-as-you-go basis. We will share more about how this will work in practice nearer the time.
