The Heythrop Library’s reading room is located on the basement level of the London Jesuit Centre, Mayfair. The reading room contains around 25 seats, including desks, sofas, and 4 computers.
Accessibility
There is a wheelchair access lift from Mount Street. To use it, wake the lift up by calling Reception (there is a call button at the top of the lift). Then follow the instructions. You need to keep the button pressed to keep the lift moving. The lift gives access to the Cana Room, which is on the same floor as Heythrop Library. There is also a lift in the building. Please contact us with queries regarding disabled access.
Cana Room
The Cana Room is a relaxing lounge also on the basement level, containing bistro tables. A place to take a break from working in the library, have food and drink, or take calls. There is wheelchair-accessible toilet.
Visiting
The Heythrop Library is a members-only library. If you would like to visit the Library, just to see the reading room (without using the collection), please contact us in advance. We might be able to welcome you, and give you a brief tour, but contacting us in advance means we can schedule your visit with our daily workload, etc.
If you are a member of the Library, we prefer talking to anyone you know, and offering them a tour. This is for various reasons. Your guests are unable to use our Library to look at any of our books.
Jesuits whether from outside the British Province, or who are based in the UK, are very welcome to come to the Library. If you are a resident in the UK you can obtain free membership. If at all possible, please apply for membership in advance.
