Collections

Everything you want to know about our collection of 200,000+ items, the history (since 1614), and our current locations. The Heythrop Library’s collection of items is stored across multiple locations, with the reading room based at the London Jesuit Centre (Mayfair).

Where our collection is stored

Mount Street (London)

With over 8,000 books and the latest issues of nearly 300 journals, our reading room at the London Jesuit Centre in Mayfair is a good starting point.

Crown Store (Ruislip)

There are over 135,000 volumes (mostly journals and books before 2021) in a commercial storage facility (Crown). These need to be requested.

Deepstore (Winsford)

Since February 2024, over 70,000 volumes (journals and books) have been stored at Deepstore (Winsford). The majority of these are pre-1990 materials.

Campion Hall Library (Oxford)

732 of rare and pre-1800 books from our collection are on deposit at Campion Hall. Access to these is only possible in Oxford.
