Captain’s log. 21 February 2024. Those who are regular readers of our Blog, or followers of us on the social-media-platform-which-shall-not-be-named will have noticed that our activities have tailed off. Our place of workship has lost our first officer, Naomi, who left her key fob behind, after her last shift on 1st February 2025; her next job is at a university library, and we were very sorry and sad to see her leave our crew. Naomi was so central to our operations that at times it has felt inconceivable that we could work without her, let alone replace her. A temporary first officer, Julian, is in place now. The selection process with two stages (first a cataloguing test, then an interview) has concluded. We hope to announce the name of the new first officer shortly. I’m so grateful to have the continuing work power, and support of our second officer, Amelia! Oh, and we will soon be more active on https://bsky.app/profile/heythroplib.bsky.social

P.S. The image is of our labelling machine’s print head – today, we had to clean it. Apparently, labelling 1,000s of books per year makes the head go dirty.
