In December 2023, I was going through a box of books transferred to us, and had this gem of a 1915 books on my desk:

Title The little flowers of Saint Francis of Assisi / translated from the Italian, and edited by Cardinal Manning.
Imprint London ; Boston : T.N. Foulis, 1915.
Description 302, [l] pages, 8 unnumbered leaves of plates ; 22 cm

[2026 edit: https://hey.koha.openfifth.net/cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=95663]

Inside there is a painting of Saint Francis of Assisi, and again a reproduction of the cover illustration. All illustrations are from paintings by Frederick Cayley Robinson (18 August 1862 – 4 January 1927). An obituary on the 6 January 1927 (The Glasgow Herald) quotes Maurice Maeterlinck as paying tribute to Cayley Robinson’s ‘powers as an interpreter of inward verities is one not to be forgotten.’ (p. 11).

We hope to share many more visually-striking books, or specific illustrations from books in our collections. Stay tuned!
